About
Elena Papernaya is a contemporary artist working between Monaco and France.
Trained as an architect, Papernaya approaches composition through depth, proportion and spatial relationships. The horizon is a recurring element in her work, marking a threshold between the visible landscape and inner experience.
Her ongoing series Horizons of Lightness explores the meeting of sea and sky. Within the artist’s conceptual framework, these embody the material and spiritual realms; their convergence suggests the passage from imagination into tangible reality. Reflections, gradual colour transitions and dissolving boundaries give the paintings their characteristic sense of openness and suspension.
Her works are held in private collections across eleven countries, including in Paris, Monaco, New York, London, Stockholm, Zurich, Luxembourg, Brussels, Moscow and Buenos Aires.
Papernaya is a member of the National Committee of A.I.A.P. (UNESCO) in Monaco.
